How long do copper peptides take to work?
Allow 4 to 8 weeks of consistent daily use before judging a copper peptide product. Skin renews on a cycle of roughly four weeks, so a single cycle is the minimum needed for any visible change in the look of the skin, and two cycles is a fairer test.
Why four to eight weeks
Skin turns over on a cycle of about four weeks in younger adults, and more slowly with age. Nothing applied to the surface can outrun that cycle.
So the first cycle is the earliest point at which the look of the skin could reasonably differ, and the second is where most people notice it. Anyone promising a week is selling something other than a cosmetic.
What to expect, roughly
Weeks one and two: very little visible. Skin may simply feel more comfortable or better hydrated, which is the base the rest is built on.
Weeks three and four: the first cycle completes. This is where texture and the look of smoothness tend to be mentioned first.
Weeks five to eight: the more commonly reported point for the appearance of firmness. For haircare, the look of fullness takes longer still, because hair grows more slowly than skin renews.
The most common mistake
Stopping at week two. It is the single reason people conclude copper peptides do nothing, and it is a timing problem rather than a product one.
The second most common is buying five products at once. One serum used every evening for eight weeks tells you far more than a full routine you lose interest in by week three.
How to judge it honestly
Take a photograph on day one, in the same light, at the same time of day. In eight weeks it will be the only comparison worth having, because gradual change is almost impossible to notice day to day.
Common questions
How long until copper peptide shampoo makes a difference?
Longer than skincare. Hair grows roughly a centimetre a month, so give a copper peptide shampoo and conditioner at least eight to twelve weeks before drawing conclusions about the look of fullness.
Should I use copper peptides every day?
Daily use is normal for a serum or moisturiser. Consistency over weeks matters far more than the amount used in any one session.
