What is SNAP-8? The expression line peptide explained
SNAP-8 is the trade name for Acetyl Octapeptide-3, a cosmetic peptide made of eight amino acids. It is used in serums and moisturisers for the look of expression lines, the ones that form around the eyes and across the forehead where the face moves most. It is applied topically and works on appearance only.
What does the name mean?
Octa means eight, so Acetyl Octapeptide-3 is a chain of eight amino acids with a small acetyl group attached for stability. SNAP-8 is the name the ingredient is sold under to formulators.

What is it used for?
The look of expression lines: crow feet, forehead lines and the fine lines between the brows. These are the lines that come from years of the same movements rather than from dryness alone.
It is a cosmetic ingredient. It supports a smoother looking surface over time and does not change how your face moves.
Why pair SNAP-8 with copper peptides?

It is commonly used on the skin around the eyes. Keep the product out of the eye itself, and patch test first if your skin in that area is sensitive.
Can I use SNAP-8 with retinol?
Many people alternate them on different evenings. Peptides are generally gentle, but introducing one new product at a time makes it easy to tell how your skin responds.
How long does SNAP-8 take to show a difference?
Allow around eight weeks of daily use before judging the look of expression lines. Skin renews itself slowly and cosmetic changes follow that pace.
